OSU Medical Center Holds Lecture on Stress ResilencePosted 10/7/2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University Medical Center will host a symposia day, open to media and the public, featuring Dr. Charles Figley, PhD, director of the Tulane University Traumatology Institute, on Wed., Oct. 14.A lecture for medical professionals, “First Do No Self-Harm: Understanding and Promoting Physician Stress Resilience” will be held at 1 p.m. in the Auditorium at Ohio State’s Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute, 473 W. 12th Ave. in Columbus.“Identifying and Removing the Barriers to Being a Resilient Caregiver: First Do No Self-Harm” is the following community presentation to be held at 5:30 p.m. in Meiling Hall, Room 112, 370 W. 9th Ave. in Columbus. A community reception will be held immediately after at 6:30 p.m.The community presentation is aimed at helping caregivers overcome challenges they face while tending to themselves and others. Psychologists, counselors, social workers, animal care workers and other professionals who serve the community will learn ways to cope with stress and improve personal well-being.
