May 27 – August 1, 2014
This program is designed primarily for theological students enrolled in seminary, although others, such as clergy, qualified lay persons, or those preparing for professional chaplaincy, are welcome to apply. This is a 10-week full-time Level I CPE program with typical hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Periodic in-house on call crisis ministry shifts occur throughout the unit, which are scheduled on weeknights, weekends and holidays. Each student will typically work ten to twelve on call shifts over the course of the program, depending on the number of CPE students enrolled. Worship leadership occurs on Sundays when on call in rotation with other students. Given time commitment needed, it is not possible to be employed or take outside classes during this ten-week period.
Students get comp time per CPE program policy and a meal ticket for each on call shift. An OSU parking pass for the medical center campus is also provided by the Department at no charge. Students may be assigned to Wexner Medical Center clinical duties in other areas of Columbus and must provide their own transportation to their assignment.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, a Bachelor’s degree, and some graduate level theological education and ministry experience. Any request for exceptions to these requirements must be directed to the CPE Supervisor. Applications are reviewed and processed as received beginning November 1 in the year prior to the Summer program until the maximum capacity is reached.
