Level I Summer Clinical Pastoral Education Program

Duration

June 1 – August 7, 2015

Program Information

This program is designed primarily for theological students enrolled in seminary, although others, such as clergy, qualified lay persons or those preparing for professional chaplaincy, are welcome to apply. This is a 10-week, full-time Level I CPE program with hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Periodic in-house on-call crisis ministry shifts occur throughout the unit; these are scheduled on weeknights, weekends and holidays. Each student will typically work about 10 on-call shifts over the course of the program, depending on the number of CPE students enrolled. Worship leadership occurs on Sundays, when on-call, in rotation with other students. Given the time commitment needed, it is not possible to be employed or take outside classes during this 10-week period.

Benefits

Students earn compensatory time per CPE program policy and a meal ticket for each on-call shift. A parking pass for Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center campus is also provided by the Department at no charge. Students may be assigned to Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center clinical duties in other areas of Columbus and must be able to provide their own transportation to their assignments.

Admission Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma, a bachelor’s degree and some graduate level theological education and ministry experience. Any request for exceptions to these requirements must be directed to the Summer Unit CPE Supervisor.

All CPE programs require the use of the ACPE application form found at the ACPE website: http://s531162813.onlinehome.us/forms.
