Our hospitals provide many support services to meet your individual needs as part of our personalized approach to your health care:


Caring Bridge

Caring Bridge enables you to stay connected with family, friends and colleagues before, during and after your hospital stay. This free website allows you to update everyone all at once, collect supporting messages and share photos. Learn more about Caring Bridge.


Ethics

The Ethics Committee offers consultation in difficult situations. To contact the Ethics Committee, call the hospital operator at 293-8000 and ask her to page the Ethics pager (9333) to your phone number.​ The physician handling ethics consults will call you soon.


Interpreter Services

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is committed to providing culturally and linguistically appropriate services for patients who have limited English proficiency, as well as those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and/or have hearing and visual impairments. We want to ensure optimal communication between you and our staff to facilitate care.  These services will be provided at no cost to you.

Interpreters are available if you have limited English proficiency or are deaf or hard-of-hearing. Please let your caregiver know verbally, in writing or by pointing to our “I speak posters” to help identify your language.

Dodd Hall, OSUCCC – James, Ross Heart Hospital and University Hospital:
Call Customer/Guest Service at 614-293-8944 Monday-Sunday 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
All other hours, call the hospital operator at 614-293-8000 and ask for the hospital administrative manager on duty.

University Hospital East:
Call Guest Services at 614-257-2310 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
All other hours, call the hospital operator at 614-257-3000 and ask for the administrative nursing supervisor.

Libraries 

Dodd Hall, OSUCCC – James, OSU Harding Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, and University Hospital
The Library for Health Information is located in University Hospital on the fifth floor of Rhodes Hall in the Atrium.There are satellite locations in  The Library for Health Information is staffed by a librarian and specially-trained volunteers who can help you find health information. Books, pamphlets, videotapes and a computer with Internet access are available to you.

University Hospital East
The Medical Library at University Hospital East is located on the second floor of the Tower at University Hospital East.

Retail Services

In an effort to make your visit as pleasant as possible, we offer a variety of retail services for patients and visitors. Most services listed are located within our hospitals while others are just a short walk away. Click here to view our Retail Services and those nearby our hospitals.

Social Work

Social workers can assist patients and their families with a variety of issues that may arise from an illness.  To talk with a social worker, contact the Department of Social Work at 614-293-8427, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. 

 

Spiritual Care

Chaplains are available to listen, talk, reflect, pray, offer sacraments and provide other spiritual support. We can also help connect you with your own pastor or faith representative. For a schedule of worship services or to request a visit with a chaplain, please call the Department of Chaplaincy (contact information below).

Dodd Hall, OSUCCC – James, OSU Harding Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, and University Hospital
A Sanctuary is located at University Hospital in the Atrium waiting area (fifth floor of Rhodes Hall.) For a schedule of worship services or to request a visit with a chaplain, call the Department of Chaplaincy at 614-293-8791 from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. During any other time, call the hospital operator at 614-293-8000 to contact the on-call
chaplain.

University Hospital East
At University Hospital East, a Sanctuary is located on the third floor north wing. For assistance, call 614-257-3255.
