We’ve simplified our billing
Thank you for choosing The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for your healthcare needs.
For services provided after July 1, 2014, we have simplified our billing process and phone number for your convenience. Patients will receive just one bill for care at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center (excluding anesthesia services) and you can call our centralized customer service billing call center at 1-800-834-1564 for questions about these bills. These new billing statements are easier to understand. Learn more about your new bill.
For services prior to July 1, 2014, you will still receive separate physician and hospital bills until those balances are paid off. Please follow the instructions listed on the bills you receive. If you have questions about those bills, please call the number listed on each bill.

What to bring to your appointment
Please bring a valid driver’s license or state issued id, your insurance card, payment such as cash, check or credit card, test results, x-rays and any other materials that you are asked to provide by your doctor.
If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, contact us at least 24 hours in advance at 614-293-5123. If you miss an appointment without notice, a rescheduled appointment cannot be guaranteed.
Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center contracts with many insurance companies. If you have insurance with one of these companies, our billing office will submit a claim for payment of services unless you instruct us not to. All needed insurance information, including special forms, must be completed by you before you leave an appointment.
If Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center does not contract with your insurance company, you will be responsible for any balance not paid. While our billing office will file a claim on your behalf to your insurance company, you may be required to pay Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center before receiving services.
Insurance plans – including what they will pay for and what portion of care is the patient’s responsibility – vary greatly. Your insurance may require that you meet an annual deductible and/or require that you pay a percentage of the bill rather than just an office visit co-payment. If you have any questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.
Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center is happy to help with insurance questions relating to how a claim was filed. We will also provide any additional information your insurance company might need to process your claim.
Other sources for funding for your care
If you cannot afford to pay your hospital and/or physician bill, please ask to speak with a financial counselor at the hospital or call the number listed on your bill. Learn more about Financial Aid at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. You may qualify for a discount based on your income, assets and residency in the state of Ohio. We may also be able to help you apply for other sources of funding for your care.
