Clinical Pastoral Education

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is theological and professional education for ministry. Using pastoral practice, written case studies, individual supervision, relevant reading and seminar participation, students are encouraged to develop caring pastoral relations and skills. Clinical Pastoral Education is designed to encourage and nurture personal and professional growth.

By integrating pastoral care with behavioral sciences, Clinical Pastoral Education enables theological reflection on the human condition so that clearer avenues of ministry and spiritual care can be rendered. The Clinical Pastoral Education Program at The Ohio State University Medical Center is accredited through the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. (ACPE).
