Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

Many life-threatening vascular conditions of the brain and spinal cord can be treated successfully by combining vascular and endovascular techniques.  One approach often complements the other and may, in some cases, supplant the alternative.  A lengthy conversation between a combined vasular/endovascular neurosurgeon and the patient and family involved in the decision-making process is necessary to discuss factors influencing procedure choice, including the wishes, age, and possible other health conditions of the patient.

Louis Caragine Jr., MD, PhD, director of endovascular surgery and the neurological surgery intensive care unit at OSU Medical Center, is currently the only double-trained vascular/endovascular neurosurgeon in Central Ohio.
