Fitness Center


The Fitness Center at The Ohio State University Center for Wellness and Prevention (CWP) provides a friendly, comfortable environment for exercise. Our professional staff members are trained in CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is on site. Someone is always available to answer questions or provide guidance and encouragement while exercising. Members have access to:

  • Aerobic and strength training equipment including
    • treadmills
    • Biodex machines
    • NuSteps
    • recumbent bikes​
    • ellipticals
    • rowing machines
    • free weights
    • weight training machines
  • Instructor-led fitness classes
  • Free one-on-one orientation to aerobic equipment
  • Free one-on-one orientation to strength equipment

Fitness Center Forms and Policies

All participants at the Fitness Center must complete an exercise risk assessment. This assessment is composed of questions to identify individuals who may be at high risk for exercise participation. Medical clearance by a physician may be required if individuals are identified as high-risk through this questionnaire and/or a staff interview.

 Fitness Center Hours of Operation:

Monday-Thursday: 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
Friday: 6 a.m.-7 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sunday: 1-5 p.m.

Holiday/OSU Football Hours: The Fitness Center is closed on all University-recognized holidays. During home Ohio State football games we are open from 8 a.m.-noon. Please call to confirm hours on home game days. 

Additional Fitness Programs at the Center

Personal training  — Personalized fitness coaching can help you get motivated and keep an active lifestyle. Coaching benefits individuals who need to get started on an exercise program or need new exercises to reach their goals.

Warm water therapeutic pool classes — People with musculoskeletal problems, obesity and other physical problems can benefit from our warm water pool program. Classes are designed to help reduce pain and increase functionality. A physician referral is required to use the warm water pool, as well as a CWP warm water pool membership.
