The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's Bariatric Surgery Program consists of board certified bariatric surgeons, physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists who are among the most experienced in evaluating and counseling patients to prepare them for this life-changing, lifesaving procedure and help ensure long-term success.
Our board certified surgeons are the most experienced in central Ohio. They were the first in central Ohio to use a minimally invasive approach for gastric bypass surgery and the first in Ohio to perform laparoscopic gastric banding.

Clinical Care Team
Kathy Foreman, RN, MSN, CNP – Certified Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Foreman evaluates patients prior to surgery, performs gastric banding adjustments, teaches portions of our BLAST weight management education class, and provides long-term follow-up care.

Douglas Kramer, PsyD, ABPP – Psychologist
Dr.
Kramer evaluates patients prior to surgery, facilitates a monthly
support group and offers psychological support before and after surgery.
Adam Freter, RD, LD – Program Dietitian
Mr. Freter assesses patients prior to surgery, leads a monthly support group, teaches our BLAST weight management education class, provides follow-up care to patients and offers support to patients before and after surgery.
Kellie Weinhold, RD, LD – Program Dietitian
Ms. Weinhold assesses patients prior to surgery, leads a monthly support group, teaches our BLAST weight management education class, provides follow-up care to patients and offers support to patients before and after surgery.
Administrative Services Team
Etene Terrell – Program Director
Ms. Terrell is responsible for program organization and growth and ensuring excellent customer service.
Program Coordinators – The program coordinators will assist patients as they navigate through our program. They will make sure all of the insurance requirements are met. Their goal is to assist you as you start your life-changing journey. You will be assigned a program coordinator who will be your point of contact throughout the process.
