Biography:


Vincent J. Pompili, MD, FACC, is section director of Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine, director of cardiovascular cell-based therapies, medical director of the cardiac cath labs and professor of internal medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Dr. Pompili earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and completed his residency in internal medicine at The John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Pompili also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Dr. Pompili has published many abstracts, articles and peer-reviewed manuscripts in prestigious peer-reviewed journals including Science and Circulation. Over the past eight years, Dr. Pompili has pioneered novel approaches of research in the areas of translational stem cell therapies for patients with severe cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease.

He has successfully completed the third U.S. FDA-approved NIH-sponsored trial in cardiovascular stem cell therapy and currently is actively investigating cell therapy options in the setting of phase I and phase II clinical trials.

Dr. Pompili’s clinical interests include complex interventional cardiology and management of acute coronary syndromes, and his research focuses on translational cardiovascular regenerative medicine and stem cell therapeutics. Dr. Pompili was named one of America’s Best Doctors in 2009.
