Biography:

Lisa Keder, MD, is the division director of the General Obstetrics and Gynecology Division and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Dr. Keder was raised in Richland, Wash., and Bradford, Penn. She graduated in 1982 from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Following undergraduate school she was employed as a health educator in the Family Planning section and then as the director of the Women’s Health Program at the Ohio Department of Health.

In 1989, she obtained medical degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha and was a recipient of the Department of Ob/Gyn Student Excellence Award. Dr. Keder completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Pittsburgh, Magee-Womens Hospital. She served as assistant chief resident during her fourth year of training. She then became the University of Pittsburgh’s first family planning fellow. As part of this fellowship, she completed her master’s degree in epidemiology at the School of Public Health. Additionally, she spent three months in an international field placement in Indonesia.

Upon completion of her fellowship in 1995, Dr. Keder was recruited back to Ohio State. Since then she has maintained an active clinical practice of general obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Keder served as director of Ohio State’s Ryan Program, focused on expanding resident experience in family planning. Through this initiative, she established a second year ambulatory rotation for Ob/Gyn residents, a complicated contraception clinic within the outpatient services at Cramblett Medical Clinic, and recruited two additional faculty members who have completed family planning fellowships.

Dr. Keder served as medical director of Planned Parenthood of Central Ohio until 2010. At that time she became director of the General Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The division currently has 16 members who maintain an active clinical practice at four locations in the metropolitan area. These physicians are responsible for gynecology resident instruction in the outpatient clinic, inpatient service and emergency room. Additionally, they share coverage for labor and delivery.

Dr. Keder has been an active member of the Wexner Medical Center clinical staff. She has served as an elected representative of the at large staff to the Medical Staff Administrative Committee, is currently vice chair of the Health Systems Credentialing Committee, and sits on the Practitioner Evaluation Committee. She has been continuously involved in clinical research and directs the General Division Clinical Trials Office. Her research activities have focused on contraceptive clinical trials and compliance with contraceptive methods. Dr. Keder is currently serving as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has recently completed a term on the Planned Parenthood Federation of America National Medical Committee, and is a grant reviewer for the Society of Family Planning and the Family Planning Fellowship.
