OSU OFFERS THE BEST IN CARE FOR NEW MOMS

Having a baby is one of life’s great joys. Ohio State’s Maternity Center understands the needs and concerns of new moms and dads and provides personalized care and services to help make each delivery comfortable and memorable.

“Our nursing staff promotes an atmosphere of family-centered care,” says Jacalyn Buck, RN, PhD, director of Nursing, Women and Infants. “We provide families with personalized education and resources that help them adapt to their new roles.”

Birthing suites are designed for comfort and include a sofa bed for your support person, a television, a DVD player and a massaging shower. All rooms in the Mother/Baby unit are private so you can bond with your new baby.

The area’s top obstetricians choose OSU’s Maternity Center because of its world-class facilities and commitment to providing the best possible care. “Half of our full-time clinical faculty in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology have been named ‘Best Doctors’ in the most recent rankings,” says Mark Landon, MD, director, Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, and vice chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

OSU Medical Center offers comprehensive high-risk maternal fetal services, including a Level III (the highest level) neonatal intensive care unit.

THE PLACE TO GO FOR OBSTETRIC IMAGING

“Not all ultrasounds are equal,” says David Colombo, MD, assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at OSU Medical Center. “It’s not only about the quality of the machine, but also the experience of the sonographer.”

OSU Medical Center combines current techniques with expert staff to offer the highest-quality obstetric imaging available. We can now capture images of the baby’s development earlier in the first trimester to check for genetic disorders.

OSUMC is the first in central Ohio to offer a test that measures the fetal nasal bone. The noninvasive test provides results earlier in the pregnancy with greater accuracy than a traditional ultrasound. If a problem is found, patients are in the perfect place for expert treatment.
