COLUMBUS,
Ohio – Dr. Somashekar Krishna, who recently completed training in advanced
therapeutic endoscopy at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, has
joined The Ohio State
University Wexner Medical Center’s division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology
& Nutrition.
Krishna
specializes in endoscopic ultrasound, endoscopic retrograde
cholangio-pancreatography and luminal stent placement, particularly in cancer
patients.
Krishna, a
native of India, received his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College.
His master’s degree in public health specializing in epidemiology is from the
University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed his residency and a
fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology in the department of internal
medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and John L.
McClellan Veteran’s Hospital.
His research
interests include solid and cystic pancreatic lesions, biliary obstruction,
colon and esophageal cancer. He is focusing on the role of endoscopic
ultrasound in pancreatic lesions, and is published on chemotherapy related
gastrointestinal complications, specifically lower alimentary tract mucositis.
Krishna is a
member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of
Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American
Board of Internal Medicine.
The Ohio
State University Wexner Medical Center’s division of
Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition provides clinical service to
patients around Columbus and the Midwest region.
