“As we think about healthcare policy it’s critical we think about medicine of the future and not medicine of the past. In my view, a lot of medicine of the future is going to involve high throughput measurement techniques for determining an individual’s genome sequence. From that we will be able to decipher future health histories by looking at blood proteins and interrogating all of the major human organs to see if they are healthy or diseased. If diseased, we will be able to determine which disease we have. This will allow us an unparalleled opportunity to transform the quality of health care and not only to deal with disease but eventually to ensure wellness.”
