"Diabetes and You: Today’s Challenges, Tomorrow’s Victories"Nearly 600 community participants attended the Dec. 1 Diabetes Community Event at the Columbus Convention Center. Mayor Coleman opened the day, and renowned diabetes experts from around the world shared their knowledge and latest discoveries. The event also included a health expo complete with diabetes screenings and cooking demonstrations. In addition, more than 650 physicians and researchers, representing 14 countries and five continents converged in Columbus Nov. 29-30 to attend the Global Diabetes Summit hosted by OSU Medical Center. This exciting two-day symposium that brought the world's greatest minds in diabetes research and treatment here to Columbus focused on finding ways to stop the rapid spread of one of the world's most debilitating, costly and preventable diseases.
