At the OSU Ross Heart Hospital, our cardiology nurses are members of an elite team delivering state-of-the-art care in one of the first hospitals in the region to specialize in heart care. The Ross Heart Hospital, located within The Ohio State University Medical Center, is a 100-bed, state-of-the-art hospital dedicated to providing complete care to a person whose condition arises from cardiovascular disease, including heart or peripheral vascular disorders. 

The most common diagnoses in the Ross Heart Hospital are unstable angina, cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction and cardiac dysrhythmia.  The hospital offers pre and postoperative care for patients undergoing cardiac transplantation, lung transplantation, intervention cardiology, lung volume reduction surgery and cardiothoracic surgery.  Skills used in the Ross Heart Hospital include:

  • CVVHD
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • IABP and VAD management
  • Mechanical ventilation
  • Continuous ECG monitoring
  • Complex IV fluid and vasoactive/titrating drip management
